Written by Author on May 16th, 2009Welcome back to our 5-part training series “How to get highly targeted traffic with web 2.0″. In part 2 today, let’s look at how you can turn your customers into ravings fans even before they see your website, by creating a web 2.0 web log.
Every business needs a blog as part of its list building strategy, regardless of whether it has a website or not. Your blog must be of high quality in order to attract your prospects to your website. In addition to this, you need a website that has quality content so that you manufacture a traffic stampede.
The most essential ingredient of the web 2.0 blog is the content element. If there’s no quality content, you can forget about traffic. And no traffic means no sales. Therefore, make sure you use keyword rich quality content that will hook people to your website or blog.
Some people have a blog as their only site. To create a blog that will see a stampede of visitors, and also refer you to their friends and gradually become your customers, here are some things you need to ensure:
***** Post great content – if your blog does not have quality posts that provide value to its readers then it wont be effective.
***** Look great – your blog must be attractively set out to be appealing to its audience. You can even choose the theme to match the subject. If your blog is about music, have a musical theme. If it is about travel, have a travel related theme. Ensure that your layout is easy to read and navigate.
***** Create a blog that is well organised for your users. Tags categories, archives are all a must
***** Your blog must load quickly.
***** Your blog must be easy to read with a good headline, graphic and a click through button where you can read more.
***** Your blog must connect your readers with additional useful information. Suppose you have a main website where you sell related products, or have an ezine, you must put these hyperlinks on your blog.
***** Blogs are friendly places to share information so any overtly sales message is avoidable.
***** Your blog posts must be short and to the point. The language can be informal and conversational, while being grammatically correct. Don’t forget to spell check. Stick to the topic you are writing about. Be informative and accurate. Use simple language.
***** Update your blog regularly with fresh posts. Archive your earlier posts. This will help increase your exposure as well as search engine ranking.
***** Establish an RSS feed to help drive more traffic to your site.
***** Bloggers end their posts with a question, inviting the views of their audience and also react promptly to comments.
Search engines frequently spider blogs; in fact they are partial to them and index them quickly. You can use RSS syndication. This helps in importing other blog updates and letting your readers know each time you add new posts. This helps with highly targeted traffic. You can add a whole lot of widgets to make your blog even more exciting.
