Revolution Of Business

Written by Author on May 24th, 2009

For centuries, business has been founded upon physical presence of a seller and buyer. We have known business to be in the presence of people, but that has slowly changed over the course of history. Business is no longer what it used to be. With the addition of checks, credit cards, and other forms of payment, to our way of living, we have entered a world of easily transferring currency and obtaining what we need quicker.

With the changing of technology and the introduction of new methods of doing business, we have adapted our habits to a new society. Initially, as mentioned before, we had a business world founded upon physical meetings. Over time, that evolved to using mailers and catalogs, for consumers to purchase not in the physical presence. Businesses also began using telephones and computers. Each of these new functions allowed business to expand and take new shapes.

Upon the introduction of the internet, arrived a new world; a world that is artificial and does not exist, the e-commerce world. E-commerce has changed how we do business completely. People now make purchases via websites instead of going to a retail shop. Businesses are now able to use the internet to communicate with a client overseas. We are able to cut costs and improve revenues, with the power of the internet.

Marketing has changed as well. We have become so technologically advanced that now businesses are able to constantly bombard us with advertisements on a daily basis. Any website we go to for any purpose, searching, movies, shopping, articles, news, we see advertisements. Advertisements have become a key to our society, and now the internet allows companies to reach us.

With internet marketing, arose another type of advertising. Search engine advertising. Search engines have become so useful and powerful that they have become a huge stream of advertising. Millions if not, billions of dollars are spent a year on search engine advertising. People pay to reach the top of searches, it is a cost effective way, to reach the masses in any state. Almost every person using a computer will use a search engine on a daily basis. Thus, it is ideal for a company to advertise on one.

As a result, of the internet, business has revolutionized how we live. It is now cheaper to go on the internet and order a product and have it delivered to your doorstep, than it is to go into a store. Not to mention it is also much more convenient, let alone cheaper. This is leading to another change of business. Companies no longer can complete compete as just retail store, they must offer unique products and services in order to keep themselves in competition.
