Scam alert- Scammers on the prowl through the darkness of the Internet- DON’T fall for it!

The aim of this article is to provide people with some welcome information on scam sellers. With the way the economy changed towards buying online, it opened up many opportunities for scam artists to make lots of money from the general public. This really annoys me as i can’t stand people who think that they can go round doing this- have they got no morals?! That’s why i am writing this article in the first place, just to try and give people more information so that they don’t fall for the sort of scams that have taken many people victim.

The first thing to look out for, when looking out for scams, is a secure connection. If you are not taken to a secure payment page when you order a product then DO NOT buy from this site! If they don’t have this protection then it is definitely not worth the risk as it means that anyone with a good computer knowledge-base would be able to get hold of your details (credit/debit card, name, address, telephone number, postcode and whatever else you are asked to provide at the time). It’s a very scary thought that someone could get everything about you that they need to spend £$£$’s on your cards- so don’t let it happen. Looking for a secure connection is one of the easiest things that you can do to combat this so always make sure you look out for it.

The second thing that you have got to look out for is irregularities in the web page. For example if the person says something like ” trusted online business- website online for over 8 years!”- you go to whois.net and type in the domain. This website will tell you when the website was first registered. If it is anything different to what it says on the website then don’t buy from them- you’ve got to ask yourself why they have to lie? And 9 times out of 10 it will be because they’ve got something to hide. Do you really want to buy from someone like this? No didn’t think so!

The third thing to watch out for- does it sound too good to be true? Most scams work because it sounds so good that people lose there inhibitions. There is a common flaw in the human mind that starts to block out things that it doesn’t want to hear and will focus on the good points. The idea of the scam is to make the deal (or whichever way they are scamming you) look that irresistible that you want to snap it up straight away- this is so they can make large sums of cash over the course of a week or whatever, then just shut the website up and start another scam- they do this so the law doesn’t catch up with them! This one is easily overcome though with a little thought as in my experience, if it sounds too good then it usually is!

The fourth thing is aimed at when you buy a product (downloadable products only). There are many different types of virus that the scammers could install along with the product that your buying. The main way to overcome this is to get a good anti-virus program (go to good anti-virus program if you haven’t already got one). A good anti-virus program, like the one i recommended, will be able to tell you instantly if a program your downloading contains a virus of any sort. This really is must have protection nowadays as the scammers are constantly making new viruses to rob you of your details. They are not expensive either and are worth their weight in gold! If the program tells you that the file may be dangerous, DON’T download it as it could do one of many things to your computer!

As i said there are more and more scammers on the prowl all the time but if we all remain vigilant then we can beat these scum! The reason most people get scammed in the first place is because of lack of knowledge- so get the word out about this page and tell the world! The more people that are aware of this the better.
