While paid types of advertising can be very effective and targeted, among the best ways to promote your business is through the passive approach of posting on forums and real time affiliate review.

The goal here is to make yourself useful; and to make an overt attempt NOT to market anything directly. As you establish relationship and as people get to recognize your posts and advice, you’ll want to utilize really subtle ways to make your business.

These techniques consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Create a high-quality report and offer it for free. No matter what niche you market in, forum readers will recognize this- especially if your content is great. So that you can get some kick out of this approach, be sure to have links to resources on your website in your book. Also, incorporate links to the opt-in page for your list.

2. Include a signature with each of your posts that explains who you are, in which fields you are great at, and why individuals must contact you. Furthermore, incorporate a link to your website, your product, or your list.

3. Be a moderator on the forum without requesting for anything in return. This will involve a bit of sacrifice on your part, but it would be worthwhile in terms of the credibility and authority you get amongst members of the forum.

If you’re not sure where to start, go to Google and perform a search for “your keyword forums” related to your site’s niche. Have a couple of hours each week on a handful of relevant forums that get a lot of traffic. Find out which of these forums is likely to be the most profitable; and then make an effort to concentrate your time and resources there.

Most importantly, do not show up on a forum with the sole goal of reaping a profit and then leave. If it becomes apparent that you have no desire in contributing to the group, forum members will be less likely to respond nicely to you.
