And secondly, it is highly possible to alienate your friends if they think you are trying to sell them something. Also, well meaning friends will often try to talk you out of what you are doing, in an effort to protect you. Although, this is not always a bad thing.

It is in fact very important to be careful when starting any online business. And you should never just ignore your friends advice out of hand. There are many scams online today, and the number is growing. This makes it difficult for the legitimate programs to get started. But, there are some simple ways to attempt to avoid getting scammed. Although nothing is fool proof.

You should absolutely research whatever it is you are interested in. Among your other research you should go to your favorite search engine and type in the name of the program or opportunity you are interested in, and then add the word scam. Look over the results carefully, though, because this will bring up forum posts asking if this opportunity or program is a scam, posts explaining that it is in fact NOT a scam, or just posts and articles that have both the name of the opportunity or program, and the word “scam” somewhere in it.

Another thing you should bear in mind is that many programs or opportunities will require an investment of your time as well as income. Most (but not all) require an investment of your cash. This can be anywhere from a very little to a very substantial amount.of your income.

You should also bear in mind that, even though some will not require an investment of your cash, all will require an investment of your time. Ideally you want something you can put all the effort into at the beginning, and then just sit back and collect the income. Also keep in mind that this up front effort may take several months, or even years before you can completely relax. The point I am trying to make here, is that you definitely have to put in the effort. You will definitely have to DO something. And keep in mind whatever tasks are necassary to make your program work, you should take them seriously, and set aside time specifically for them. Most only require about an hour a day, but they most definitely have to have that hour.
